Emcon Services Inc., an interprovincial Road and Bridge Maintenance Contractor with contract areas throughout British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario invites applications for the position of HR Manager in the Ontario Corporate Office located in Mississauga, ON. This position reports to the to the Vice-President of Ontario Operations and maintains and enhances the organization’s human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, practices and procedures.

The Human Resources Manager position requires a highly motivated and competent individual with above average skills in Recruitment and Retention processes, Human Resource Management, Benefits Administration, Performance Management, Communications Processes, Classifying Employees, Employment Law, Human Rights Law and Privacy Law.

The Human Resource Manager works with company management and supervisory staff on issues of human resources and provides specific interpretation and application of the Collective Agreement and company’s policies and procedures in all areas. The Human Resource Manager will further lead initiatives for the recruitment of new workers though the creation and advertisement of available positions, the attendance of job fairs and communications through Social Media websites.

 The Successful Candidate must have:

  • Completion of High School along with an HR related Degree with a minimum of four years’ experience in HR Management
  • Knowledge and experience working in a human resource capacity
  • Proven generalist experience, including the ability to work at both strategic and operational levels
  • Knowledgeable and current with employment law and Human Resource best practices
  • Experience with Collective Agreements and leading bargaining sessions
  • Experience with grievance and arbitration processes
  • Experience in the development, implementation and administration of employment policies and procedures
  • Experience at recruitment process, interviewing and candidate assessments
  • Experience in maintaining an employee benefit program
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with payroll and costing software
  • Excellent planning, organization, problem solving, communication and administration
  • Coaching and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and flexibly
  • Ability to prepare and present reports to director level
  • Pro-active and self-motivated
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Co-operative and supportive while working in a team environment
  • A good working knowledge of HR systems

This position is a salaried position, with additional compensation opportunities including a performance and retention bonus that will be discussed during the interview process.

The Human Resource Manager is a salary position excluded from the Union. Wage range start at $80,000 to $95,000 annually depending to experience.
