Emcon Services Inc.is a proud Canadian based company with over 30 years of success as an interprovincial road and bridge maintenance contractor.  We currently have an opportunity for enthusiastic individual to join our team as the Mechanical Superintendent for our Peel/Halton contract stationed out of our Mississauga, Ontario shop.

Reporting to the Division Manager for day-to-day operations and Equipment Manager of their designate for equipment related items, the Mechanical Superintendent is responsible for:

  • Strengthening established processes to ensure the delivery of a successful Preventative Maintenance program including:
    • Ensure a strong preventative inspection program designed to identify and repair mechanical issues in advance of failure
    • Proper identification, planning, repair and follow-up of mechanical deficiencies
    • Establish mechanical priorities, timeframes and cost-estimates;
  • Managing a mid-sized mixed fleet ranging from plow trucks to graders to excavators to light equipment in multiple worksites;
  • Successfully leading a team of mechanical staff while simultaneously developing new talent for the future;
  • Establishing and communicating clear expectations on performance and quality based on industry standards and timelines;
  • Communicating mechanical timelines and schedule to related team members;
  • Coordinating seasonal equipment readiness programs;
  • Other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Have a strong background in Commercial Transportation Industry or a Truck & Coach Mechanic license (310T);
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License and satisfactory Driver’s Abstract;
  • Experienced and knowledgeable in technical and mechanical skills;
  • Computer literacy and preferably expertise in computerized equipment control systems;
  • Understanding of Provincial Commercial Regulatory rules;
  • Clear knowledge of Provincial OH&S;
  • Experience in Preventative Maintenance Programs;
  • Proven supervisory skills and excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills;
  • Prior experience working within a union environment is an asset.

This is a non-union, salaried, management position.  Salary and benefits will be based on the experience of the successful candidate.
