Position Overview:

We are looking for a skilled Accountant (excluded position) to join our finance team at Merritt, BC. The ideal candidate will support our financial operations and assist the Controller in monitoring the company's financial performance. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can manage multiple priorities effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare reports for management and compile financial reports for analysis.
  • Assist the Controller in monitoring the company’s financial performance and preparing financial forecasts.
  • Ensure adherence to internal financial controls and monitor accuracy.
  • Support internal and external financial audits by providing necessary documentation and insights.
  • Collaborate with all financial and payroll employees to ensure efficient operations.
  • Research technical accounting issues to ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulations.
  • Support month-end and year-end close procedures to ensure timely reporting.
  • Manage the work approval system under the direction of the Controller.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an accounting role.
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly skilled in math, accounting, and financial processes.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and relevant regulations, including government remittances.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
